Where to Give

The Church Budget

The primary, day-to-day, essential work of the church and its missions partners is supported by the church budget. This includes the operating budget of the church that addresses both in-house and external ministries. The budget is the most important place to include in your financial stewardship, and is the default account for all tithes and non-directed gifts.

Other Designated Accounts

Contributions are received for a wide variety of other causes affiliated with FBCX, including our internal and external benevolence funds that help people with food and shelter, memorial gifts to mark someone’s death, contributions to any of FBCX’s missions partners, and in-house missions efforts such as the Crisis Closet. If giving to a cause other than the budget, be sure to mark the designation on your offering envelope, check, online gift or email.

Investment Funds

First Baptist has been blessed by several generous gifts in the past that provide significant financial support beyond the lifetimes of the original donors. We currently hold three investment funds for the building and grounds, missions, and music, and an additional fund we call the “1826 Fund” for unrestricted gifts.

Special Ways to Give

Most church giving comes directly from income.  Some church members can give assets accumulated in the past in ways that allow a meaningful gift to the church and tax advantages for the giver.  A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) can be made from an IRA, donor-advised fund, or a retirement account like a 401k.  Persons 70 ½ years or older can have a distribution sent directly from the financial institution to the church with the check made payable to First Baptist Church of Christ.  This distribution can count toward the giver’s Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for persons 73 years and older and can be excluded from income when filing a tax return for the year during which the gift is made.

Appreciated securities like stocks, bonds, and mutual funds can be given directly to the church as well.  The donor avoids capital gain tax on the sale of the asset and allows the church to use the total value for ministry and missions.

Please discuss these options with your trusted financial advisors and contact the church office for more information.

Legacy Giving

A planned gift, made in lifetime or at death, is part of a donor’s overall financial and/or estate planning. It is a method of supporting non-profit and charitable organizations that enables individuals or donors to make larger gifts than they could make from their income. An effectively planned gift can bring remarkable benefits (including a life-time income and tax benefits) to you and/or your loved ones, as well as provide you the reward of creating life-sustaining support for our Church or many other non-profit organizations.

Though planned gifts are unique to each person, they all have something in common. The gifts made as a part of our estate planning are some of our final words to our family and to our community about what we matters to us. If you would like to talk about planning a legacy gift, please contact the church office to be connected to the appropriate church leader.

Ways to Give

In Worship

If you have given to a church in the past, this is likely the way you’ve done it. Members may request a box of envelopes at the beginning of each year, or you can find one in the pew. Place in the offering plate cash or a check made out to First Baptist Church of Christ.

By Mail

Offerings may be sent through the mail: First Baptist Church of Christ, 511 High Pl, Macon, GA 31201. Please indicate if your offering is intended for the budget or another designated account or ministry.

Automatic Bank Draft

Many members choose to set up automatic gifts through their bank’s online bill-pay system. Simply go to your bank’s website, log in to your individual bank account and follow your bank’s instructions to set up First Baptist Church of Christ as a new payee. Your bank will print and cut a check and mail it to FBCX on your behalf. This is the most cost-effective way to give online, as it does not charge any added fees.

Online Giving

Our online giving portal allows you to schedule a recurring or one-time gift charged to either your debit or credit card or directly as an ACH from your checking account. Through this online account you can easily see your past giving history and manage your future giving amount. When using this platform, please consider covering the 3% processing fee.
