While the contours of the story remain the same, each of the four gospels remembers the crucifixion of Jesus differently. One of the most striking differences is what each gospel records Jesus saying from the cross. Over the Wednesdays in Lent we’ll take a closer look at each of these “seven last words” of Jesus from the cross, and talk about the many textured ways we can approach the cross of Christ.
March 1: Ash Wednesday service in sanctuary. Luke 23:34: Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.
March 8: International Women’s Day focus
March 15: Luke 23:43: Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.
March 22: Matthew 27:46, Mark 15:34: My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
March 29: John 19:26-27, 28, 30: Woman, behold your son. Son, behold your mother. I thirst…It is finished.
April 5: Luke 23:46: Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.
